Word of The Year 2023
So the 2023 is already here and are you looking to make improvements in your life? What changes are you looking for? Are you trying to focus more on your health, mental well-being, improve your attitude, or just need an overall change?
Around this time is when everyone is so focused on New Year resolutions and how to improve from the previous years. I don’t know about you but my new year resolutions never seem to go according to plan. The start is strong but might end up not finishing.
This year, I’m trying to put a focus on a word of the year 2023. Instead of trying to accomplish something, choosing a word that can be emphasized and make improvements surrounding that word would be a plus. What if you replaced a resolution with one word, what would it be?
How To Choose Your Word Of The Year 2023?
So some might find it difficult to choose word of the year 2023, but if you actually break it down, it’s not as bad. Ask yourself some of the following questions and you might get a closer findings of that specific word that you want to focus on:
- What is your focus going into 2023?
- What do you want to accomplish this year?
- What is the goal you have in mind?
- Do you even want to get anything done?
- What word comes to mind that reflects your last years lifestyle?
- In your opinion, do you think you need improvements on anything particular?
Why Choose A Word Instead of A New Year Resolution
Unlike what everyone else’s experiences are with new years resolutions I feel like many people make a resolution with a high expectation of themselves. Sometimes it can be reached but a lot of times, it become overwhelming.
Decisions can be made upon pressure or quick at the moment style and can affect the outcome at times too. Realistically, resolutions are made to improve something about your life or lifestyle for the upcoming year, but life happens. Yes, life happens to us all that stops us from completing our goals.
When you choose a “word of the year” instead, it creates a mood of focusing on things around that word. Without having the pressure to complete a specific goal you made, you make changes and adapt to what defines matters around the focus word.
For example, if your word was resilience, anything that you required you to be resilient in the various moments would contribute to the word. It feels like you’ve made a difference already, with more to come.
