Learn Through Online Games
Growing up as a child, learning new games and playing with the family creates a huge impact for the future as well. Through play and game, learning becomes a fun environment without it being so stressful.
When you think of online games, the first thought that comes to many parents head is screen time and just having fun. Can you really learn through online games? Many won’t see the learning aspects until they see it hands on.
I’m one of those parents that are onboard with screen time as long as they are given limitations and guidelines on what is appropriate. My kids have tried to watch things that I don’t approve of it and were caught a few times. So now, they’re not allowed to watch certain apps and certain shows.
Instead, I like to expose them to sites/apps that create a learning environment with a fun twist to it. So when I heard about Calculators.org, I was pretty impressed with the variety of online activities that are offered for the kids.
Calculators.Org is an online math and educational site for today’s kids. They focus on various age groups skills and development. The math portion of site has different age group levels to choose from so that you can target your specific grade level.
But they also have a game section Online games where they engage in fun ways of learning different schemes. It has educational games as well as fun leisure games. It doesn’t break it down by age levels but it does show the difficulty level of each game.
By looking at the pictures and the descriptions displayed, the type of game is visible. By scrolling through each game, you can get a feel of the various games that are available and test the ones you wish to play.
One of the games that was perfect for my son was Dotted Alphabet Game. He knows how to write his letters and numbers, but the dotted letter game helped with his fine motor skills. By utilizing the mouse to maneuver the desired path for the letter to be completed, it allowed him to focus and master the letter. It was also a great way to review all the letters as well.

One of the games that we all grew up knowing is a Rubik’s cube. Now how cool is it to be able to play it on a website with a 3D image? You maneuver the mouse to change the sections the way you want it to.
It also times you to see how long you can challenge yourself to complete it. My daughter has a Rubik’s cube and loved playing with when she was younger, but lost a little interest. When she saw that she was able to do it online, she found a new interest to it.
Another part of the website had math section. My daughter is working on her multiplications so this was a perfect place for her to have fun while learning. There’s a timer on while you are solving the problems so it does get a little bit challenging. There are other math components as well. Addition, Subtraction, and Division are part of the game as well too.
Finding the letter game was perfect for my son. Since he knows his letters and numbers, searching for letters in a pile like the above picture challenges him greatly. He had fun looking through the colorful letters and finding the one it asked for.
The site has many educational games like puzzles, physics, logic, and music as well. For the fun games, it has arcade, sports, card games and classic kids games as well. Do you remember playing checkers, chess, and snakes and ladders when you were younger?
How about uno and solitaire too? Well it’s a great chance to relive those fun game days for you as well because they’ve got them all. Its a great way for the family to get together for a game night, except it would be all online. A different form of game night might be fun.
